Cagayan De Oro City Tradition's
- The elders of the city claim that the pier and the river are connected by an underground tunnel. According to legend, a priest was discovered at the pier after taking a bath in the river and going missing. The "de Oro" component of the city's name is claimed to be explained by the golden fish in the river.
